Cape Landing Wines
SINGLE VINEYARD WINES
A Sense Of Place
Cape Landing’s wines are all made exclusively from fruit produced in our own single vineyard.
This is important for us as it ensures our wines are an authentic interpretation of Cape Landing’s geographical location in the southern part of the Margaret River wine growing region.
Vineyard management and wine making at Cape Landing starts with the premiss that great wines are made in the vineyard, our vineyard, by a team of skilled, dedicated and passionate people.
“Internationally, Margaret River is probably most famous as one of the surprisingly few places in the world where the Cabernet Sauvignon grape makes great, subtle wine.”
Jancis Robinson OBE, MW
Blackwood
Our finest parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Shiraz (Syrah), Malbec and Sauvignon Blanc from each vintage are carefully selected for our flagship series of Blackwood wines.
Produced in limited quantities, typically limited to less than 300 six bottle cartons, and only made when justified by fruit quality from exceptional vintages, all of our Blackwood wines benefit from cellaring and maturation in bottle.
Our first 2019 vintage Blackwood Chardonnay and Blackwood Cabernet Sauvignon wines were produced from Vintage 2019.
A Blackwood Syrah was added from Vintage 2020, Blackwood ‘Silver Eye’ Chardonnay and Blackwood ‘Silver Eye’ Sauvignon Blanc joined the Blackwood range from Vintage 2021 and a Blackwood Heritage Shiraz and Blackwood Heritage Cabernet Sauvignon were produced from Vintage 2022.
Reserve & Estate
Cape Landing’s award winning Reserve & Estate & Reserve wines are all produced from our single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Shiraz (produced in the Margaret River ‘Syrah’ style), Malbec and Sauvignon Blanc – five of the most important grape varieties produced in the Margaret River wine region.
During each growing season our vines are hand pruned, and canopies carefully managed, to maintain optimum vine balance and vigour, ensuring that the wines produced at Cape Landing are a perfectly balanced expression of both our region, our specific location and each vintage year.
With the exception of our Rosé, which is produced from early season picked Shiraz fruit, and made entirely in stainless steel tanks, all of our Reserve and Estate wines benefit from some element of maturation in French oak, which has little influence on a wine’s aromatics and flavour concentration, but does increase a wine’s overall palate presence and intrinsic complexity.
